Married With Clickers
We are Scott & Kat - a happily married couple who love to sit on the couch and chat about the films we've watched. Join us on the Married With Clickers podcast as we cover material from a wide range of eras and genres.

Married With Clickers: Episode 99 - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

The holidays are just around the corner, so we decided to cover a film with a very misleading title: Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. This is an interesting film about a fascinating period of history with some strong performances, but does it all come together to form a masterpiece? We also share our views on Skyfall, In Time, Argo, Something Borrowed and Macao.

The next episode is both our 100th and our 2 year anniversary - we'd love to hear from you, so please write to us at marriedwithclickers@gmail.com or call 206-388-0793.

We also take a quick look at Ghosts of Mars, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Invisible Man's Revenge, Jeff Who Lives at Home and Conan the Barbarian (2011).

We discuss all of the elements that are required for a good heist film. Does this one measure up? Tune in to find out. We also give our quick thoughts on The Muppets, Magic Mike, The Island (1980), The Formula, Rock of Ages and Storm Warning (1951).

Our 100th episode is nearing and we're trying to figure out what to do to celebrate. We'd love to hear from you at 206-338-0793 or marriedwithclickers@gmail.com.

Married With Clickers: Episode 96 - Grease

Kat and I were about to head our separate ways (short, independent trips - not marital disaster), but before doing so we decided to piece together a quick show on an old favourite: Grease. We grew up humming the tunes to this musical, but has it worn out its welcome or does it still manage to charm the hot pants off us? Tune in to find out. It has been a busy time in the Clickers household, so if this ep seems a bit rushed and we seem a bit distracted, you will have to forgive us. There are worse things we could do.

Gentlemen (and Ladies), start your engines as we accelerate through the corners this week with a look at John Frankenheimer's 1966 Cinerama sensory experience known as Grand Prix. Sure, we've got James Garner, Yves Montand and Toshiro Mifune but, let's admit it, we're here for the cars. Does it capture pole position or is it a literal and figurative car wreck? Tune in to find out. We also chat about Peggy Sue Got Married, My Son My Son What Have Ye Done and Gun Crazy.

Married With Clickers: Episode 94 - Nosferatu Royale

We rushed to squeeze one more episode of Shocks & Bonds into the month. This week, Kat wanted a Daniel Craig Bond starring Bond film, and went with Casino Royale. For the Shock, we class it up with Werner Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre, a remake of the silent, Expressionist classic. Did the experiment end on a high note, or are we ready to say goodbye to 007 and assorted ghouls? Tune in to find out.

Married With Clickers: Episode 93 - Asphyx With Love

Shocks and Bonds continues this week with a couple of very fun films. On the shock side, we check out The Asphx from 1973, a rather old fashioned British horror film about interfering with nature and saying ass fix a lot. On the Bond front, we go waaay back to 1963 with From Russia With Love, the second film in the franchise which includes a trip on the Orient Express.

Shocks and Bonds continues this week with two very different films. We go all the way back to 1941 to review the Universal classic The Wolfman. Does the film still have any appeal in 2012? Tune in to find out. We feature our third Bond in three weeks with Goldeneye from 1995. We all waited a long time to see Pierce Brosnan as 007 but was it worth the wait?

Married With Clickers: Episode 91 - Fog Your Eyes Only

Shocks and Bonds continues this week with a fun double feature. For the 'Shocks' portion, we cover John Carpenter's The Fog. We liked this one so much, we reviewed it twice (the first one was lost to computer gremlins). For the 'Bonds' part of the show, we hang out with Roger Moore with a review of For Your Eyes Only. This week, Kat picked 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Freddy vs. Jason from 2003. What did we think? Were they great or did they stink? Tune in to find out.

Married With Clickers: Episode 89 - TIFF Report

We attended some TIFF screenings a few weeks ago and we're finally sitting down to talk about them. This episode includes reviews of The Iceman starring Michael Shannon, Thérèse Desqueyroux starring Audrey Tautou, the Hong Kong car chase flick Motorway and Spanish apocalyptic reunion movie Fin (The End). Kat also fills us in on what it's like to see a 50something Madonna perform. Head colds abound in the Clickers household right now, so coherent analysis is a rare bird. It's the end of the world and does anyone really care? Kirsten Dunst sure doesn't. Tune in to see how this rather polarizing film sat with us. We also dive into the feedback bag.

Is the film itself over the hill, or can the team of Wise and Ryan still teach us some new tricks? Tune in to find out. Well, the answer is 'yes', but please still tune in to find out why. We also chat about season 1 of Boardwalk Empire, The Lady in the Lake and John Woo's Paycheck. Married With Clickers: Episode 84 - Kong's Ugly Harley

Cruel Summer ends with a whimper this week. We are obviously suffering from bad movie fatigue as we look to put this whole thing out of its misery. We burn through three quick reviews covering The Ugly Truth, King Kong Lives and Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. We failed to see the humour in any of these - perhaps the summer heat makes us cranky. We also discuss some other recent watches including Forty Guns, Downton Abbey, Nightbreed: Cabal Cut and Beasts of the Southern Wild. To make matters worse, we're testing out some new recording equipment so sound quality may be all over the place. Overall, this may not have been our finest hour but it was certainly our houriest hour.

Married With Clickers: Episode 83 - Into the Blue 2: The Reef

This week, Cruel Summer hits a new high (or is it a new low?) with the straight to DVD sequel to a film that we'd never seen. Into the Blue 2: The Reef is jam-packed with vaguely familiar faces and reality stars desperate to find their 16th minute of fame. Sure it's terrible, but is it any good? Let's just say that if you like split screens, gratuitious T&A and scuba montages, this may be the film for you.

Perhaps both? We also chat briefly, in a spoiler-free fashion, about Dark Knight Rises. You may have heard of that one.

Married With Clickers: Episode 80 - The Blue Lagoon

Cruel Summer heats up this week as we get shipwrecked with Brooke Shields and Chris Atkins in The Blue Lagoon. We also chat about Sherlock: The Final Problem, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells, The Guard and Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy. That's a whole lot of commas.

Does the law of diminishing returns hold true for this series, or does Clint Eastwood have a surprise or two up his sleeve? The TV season has returned with a vengeance, so we also take quick looks at The Firm (we've got a personal connection to the show) and The Bachelor Season 47. We've also dipped our toes into the cool, creepy waters of Twin Peaks, which may ultimately lead to a standalone episode for us.

Married With Clickers: Episode 56 - Dirty Harrython Pt. 1

So, we were going to cover Magnum Force this week but, one thing led to another, and we decided that a two-parter covering all 5 Dirty Harry films was in order. For this episode, we take a look at Dirty Harry and its follow-up Magnum Force. Do these two classics still bring the thrills? Tune in to find out. We aim for a balanced cinematic diet, so we also discuss One Day, Win Win, Beginners and Extract. The holdiays are a great time for giving the old DVD player a real workout.

Married With Clickers: Episode 55 - Our Top 10 Discoveries of the Year

As we may have mentioned from time to time (or all the time), we have two young children and that limits the number of times we can see new releases on the big screen. Stealing an idea from our good friend Rupert of the Rupert Pupkin Speaks blog, we decided to create lists of the top 10 films we saw for the first time in 2011. We hit nearly ever genres and our lists include films from as far back as 1935 and as recent as 2008. We do end up discussing some of our favourites from 2011 and respond to some terrific feedback.

We'd love to hear from you, so drop us a line at 206-338-0793 or marriedwithclickers@gmail.com and make sure to stop by rupertpupkinspeaks.blogspot.com/
